Weekly Happenings from Sharon

Hi Girls...Sharon here,

Strange, I know that I am visiting with you on a Wednesday, but we have been sooooo busy here at the Cottage that I haven't had time in the last two weeks to stand still long enough for a visit. And Melody and I are headed for Seward tomorrow for Quilt Nebraska 2013.

First off we would like to thank all of you who stopped by during our BEAT THE HEAT SALE!!!!!!! It was a fantastic event!!! Believe me when I say that it was the first time, other than Shop Hop week, I opened the door at 10:00 and saw a line waiting to get in!! WOW!! So again, "Thank you" for helping us to make some room for new fabric and kits.

Melody is teaching a wool class at the convention this weekend and we will, of course, have a booth. So today the project is to pack up. We will be stuffing every old suitcase and may just have to sit on them to get them closed J. We won't take everything though. There will be some left for those of you who come shopping in the next few days.

Speaking of that, Kif has been sooo busy in the basement kitting up wool projects for all of you. I think she wore the paint off the stairs yesterday bring up things for Ellen to get out on the shelves. And Ellen's grandson, Conner, even got in the action helping. What a nice young man. We sure did keep him busy. Thanks, Conner.

We started putting a new line of BEAUTIFUL civil war fabric called "Jubilee" out for you to see. You girls know that I am more of a bright person, so some of the warmer lines are not my fav, but this line has some beautiful blues, greens, golds and browns in it. I just might have to change my ways. We haven't gotten a sample made yet, but will be working on that next week. We also got in more of the colored plastic square totes if you have been waiting for one.

And the Christmas Crazy flannel line is just too cute...we brought it up and have it marked. Now we just have to move a few things around to get it displayed for all of you to see. I'm thinking the front porch........

For those of you interested in making the "Summer Pennies" BOM that will start in September, please let us know by August 10th. You can call, e-mail stop in and tell us. That way we will be sure to have one kitted up and ready for each of you when you come down for your "Woolie Girls" Saturdays. If you mentioned it to us before, please call so we don't miss anyone. Kif is working on those and just in case she needs to order more wool, she will know how much to ask for. If you would like to participate in this BOM, but don't sew with us here at the Cottage on a Saturday, call and we will get you signed up for a kit too.

We have a Sit and Sew coming up in a few weeks. The date is Wednesday, August 14th. We are going to do a Villa Rosa quilt again; they are soooo fun and easy. Just bring your machine, some thread and a smile. We will have your kits all cut for you so all you do is ---sit-and-sew. We will even be your pressers!!! A fun evening in the basement. Space is a little limited so call and sign up for this one.

Oh and don't forget that we have another "Ol' Bag Day" at the end of August too.

Did any of you try that recipe we shared?? If so, we hope you liked it. And if you have one to share, let me know. We are always into trying something new.

Well I guess I should get back to packing up the suitcases.

Hope you all have a great week!!!
Maybe we will see you in Seward.

Talk to you soon.
Sharon

P.S. For those of you who are "Web surfing shoppers" we are working on our site and it should be updated in the next few days with lots of new kits available. We'll keep you posted.

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas..........

Brrr..It’s cold outside.  I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Holiday!  We were so lucky to have our entire family home for a belated Thanksgiving on Saturday.  Samantha and her family, Luke and Steph, and Brit and Adam were here along with our moms, Helen and Margaret.  What a wonderful time sharing memories together.  We also shared some great food!  My mother-in-law’s dressing recipe is the best ever!  A meal in itself.  Of course it’s not Thanksgiving without my mom’s famous pies…pumpkin, cherry, strawberry-rhubarb.  Yummy!

I just finished the Ginger Boys Table Mat and it is just adorable!  An 18” tablemat featuring 16 wool gingerbread men with wool bowties designed by Lisa Bonjean.   Perfect for that special spot to showcase a Christmas candle or decoration.  You can even just fill a basket or container with berries, pinecones or greenery and set it in the middle of the mat!  The possibilities are endless.  Kit and pattern available at the Cottage!

Check out this recipe for Unbelievable Cookies!  Only  three ingredients!  Can’t get any easier than this!!
1 cup peanut butter
1 egg1 cup sugarMix ingredients together.  Form small balls and press down with the tines of a fork.  Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees.   Makes 4 dozen cookies.

As always, it’s not Christmas at the Brown house without the scent of candles.  The scent of the night is Cinnamon and Cranberries.  It just screams Christmas!  One of my favorite winter thyme scents.

I have several gifts from the Cottage that I would like to share with my readers.  I will be picking names from my comments section, so please leave me a comment.  I would love it if you would leave me a favorite Christmas recipe to share…and you have a chance to win one of these prizes.  Names will be drawn randomly each week.

Have a wonderful week!!!MB

Melody's Blog

Welcome to my new blog for Cottage Inspirations!  I thought this would be a great way to keep everyone informed of all of the Cottage Happenings here at the shop.

First, I want to thank everyone that stopped by during the 2nd Annual Charm of Christmas Mini Shop Hop.  We had a great time and our $25 Gift Certificate winner was Cheri Wilson of Gothenburg.   Congratulations, Cheri!  Also, if anyone couldn't make it around to all the shops, you can still get the patterns by contacting each shop.  They will be available until the first of the year.

We are getting ready to go to the Bits 'n Pieces 2010 Quilt show in Seward this weekend.  This will be our first time vending there, and we are looking forward to it, so if you are in the area be sure and stop in to see us.  Mention you read our blog and we will give you 15% off any one kit purchase at the show.

Also, be sure to check out the new look to our website, http://www.cottageinspirations.com/. We will be adding new kits and previewing the new Block of the Month programs for 2011 in the coming weeks!
